Day 24 – 18/04/2020

Wow, I almost forgot to write tonight! It’s been one of those days and now I’m running late! This morning when I woke up just before 6:30 am, there was a full on lightning and thunder storm outside. It didn’t really make me feel like getting up, so I snuggled under the covers for a while longer! What’s the rush?

When I did finally get up  the storm was over but it was still raining, raincoat and leggings were needed. The dogs were busting to get out of their kennels and Holly was pretty keen for her morning feed. I let the dogs off, fed Holly and headed down the hill to move Holly’s fence. I was struck by how green the grass is. We are having an Autumn growth, which will hopefully get our stock through the winter until the Spring growth.

I was surprised to find a letter in our mail box this morning.  It seems like the world has stopped and there was a letter – a bill to be exact! Some things never change.

I checked the orchard this morning. Our figs are not quite ready yet, although I notice that the weka and birds are already trying them out. Our fedora aren’t ready yet either, thought we have fruit so I’m hopeful of good things to come.

I’ve spent today catching up with friends via video links and phone calls. It’s not the same. I’d like to give some of my dearest friends a big hug, but to just see them on a screen, while nice, just isn’t the same. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy in my bubble but there are some things that can’t be replicated – like human touch.

Laurie finished the cupboard for the wood hopper this morning. It looks so good. He and Kayden filled the hopper with wood and now I just need to open the cupboard door and there is the wood. No more buckets into the kitchen. Yah!!!

This afternoon Laurie and I had a chat about landscaping the area in front of our house. While the digger is here it is a good time to get some of teh heavy work done. I have some granite rocks that Laurie gave me a while ago that I have always wanted to make into a rock garden. We planned it today. I am very excited to be able to get this project started. There is always something to do when you have a block of land!

As I write this it’s raining quite heavily. A good night for dreams and plans.
